Discover Sailing – Junior Program at Rosebud Yacht Club

At Rosebud Yacht Club, our Junior Sailing Program introduces children to the thrill of sailing in a safe and supportive environment.

Sessions begin on the beach, where kids learn about rigging, safety, and how the wind moves a boat. Before long, they’re sailing their own dinghies across the sheltered waters of the bay—building confidence with every tack and turn.

With guidance from our experienced instructors, juniors develop skills such as:

• Handling and steering a boat

• Understanding wind direction and sail control

• Staying balanced and recovering after a capsize

• Working with others while gaining independence

Learning is kept light-hearted with games, short races, and plenty of encouragement. Each week, children discover a little more about sailing while having fun with their friends.

By the end of the course, juniors are confident on the water and ready to keep exploring—whether through club activities, racing, or family sailing adventures.

The Junior Program is more than lessons—it’s an introduction to a lifelong sport and a welcoming community at Rosebud Yacht Club.
