Junior Learn to Sail – Rosebud Yacht Club

Give your child the chance to discover sailing with Rosebud Yacht Club’s Junior Learn to Sail program. Set on the calm, shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay, it’s the perfect place for kids to start their sailing journey.

From day one, children are introduced to the basics—safety, rigging their boats, and understanding the wind. Then, it’s straight onto the water, where they get to experience the excitement of steering and sailing for themselves.

Guided by our friendly instructors and supported by dedicated volunteers, each session builds both skills and confidence. Along the way, juniors will:

• Learn how to launch, steer, and control a dinghy

• Discover how sails work and how to trim them

• Practice balance and capsize recovery

• Enjoy games, teamwork, and mini races on the bay

The focus is always on fun, while gradually developing real sailing ability. Kids gain independence on the water while making friends and sharing adventures.

Parents love seeing the progress, and children finish the program proud of what they’ve achieved—many ready to step up into club racing or enjoy family sailing for years to come.

More than just a course, our Junior Learn to Sail program opens the door to a lifetime of skills, confidence, and enjoyment on the water.
