Rosebud Yacht Club is home to a vibrant junior sailing program where kids can learn the skills of sailing in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
The program introduces children to the basics of sailing, starting with how to rig and launch their boats, safety awareness, and an understanding of wind and balance. Once on the water, juniors are encouraged to explore, experiment, and grow their confidence as they take control of their own dinghies.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will:
Discover how to steer and handle a dinghy independently
Learn how sails work and how to trim them correctly
Build resilience through capsize recovery practice
Develop teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Enjoy games and friendly races designed to make learning fun
The sheltered waters off Rosebud provide the ideal training ground for young sailors, making it possible for them to progress at their own pace. Some go on to participate in club racing and regattas, while others simply enjoy the joy of sailing with friends and family.
Above all, the junior program is about building confidence and a love for the water. With every session, children develop not only practical sailing skills but also independence, resilience, and a sense of belonging within the Rosebud Yacht Club community.
