Junior sailing at Rosebud Yacht Club is the perfect way for children to develop skills on the water while having fun. Our training sessions are designed to give every young sailor the confidence to handle a boat safely and enjoy the freedom of sailing.
Each session begins with clear, step-by-step instruction. Children are guided through boat setup, safety checks, and understanding how the wind works. Then, under the close support of our instructors, they head out into the calm, shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay to put their learning into practice.
Throughout the program, juniors will:
Learn how to launch and control a dinghy
Practice steering and sail trimming
Build teamwork and problem-solving skills
Gain confidence through capsizing and recovery drills
Take part in fun challenges, races, and group activities
The focus is always on fun, but each week builds new abilities, helping young sailors progress at their own pace. Parents often see a real growth in confidence, independence, and resilience as their children master the basics of sailing.
Rosebud Yacht Club offers a welcoming, family-friendly environment where juniors not only learn to sail but also make friends and feel part of the sailing community. Whether they continue on to racing, move into bigger boats, or simply enjoy time on the water with family, the experience of junior sailing at Rosebud creates skills and memories that last a lifetime.
